A B O U T__S A M R T

We are a professional non-profit organization that was founded in 1940 under the name the Saskatchewan Society of X-Ray Technicians. The name was changed in 1987 in order to properly recognize the four technological disciplines that make up our membership:

Nuclear Medicine
Radiology
Radiation Therapy
Magnetic Resonance Imaging

We are governed in the Province of Saskatchewan through an act of Government "The Medical Radiation Technologists Act" which was revise last in 1996. Members who practice in the Province must be registered with the SAMRT, and must also abide by Saskatchewan Labour Laws set up through the Radiation Health and Safety Branch.

SAMRT VISION STATEMENT
Medical Radiation Technologists are an essential partner of the health care delivery team and must be recognized as such. The Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists includes all diagnostic and therapeutic imaging professionals. The Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists provides public education about the profession.

SAMRT MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists is to regulate the practice of the profession of Medical Radiation Technology in order to serve and protect the public.
